Light show to impress – Garden by the Bay
You can not visit Singapore without experiencing Garden by the Bay. The light show with music in the evening is almost a must. During my stay in Singapore, I traveled twice to this park.
Artificial Garden by the Bay
Garden by the Bay offers a scenic paradise for nature and photography lovers and is suitable for the whole family. This lush green oasis has won multiple prices since it opened in 2012. The Garden is situated next to Marina Bay Sands, which has become Singapore’s most characteristic building. The park includes the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest, and Supertree Grove.
The Flower Dome
The Flower Dome broke the Guinness World Record as the World’s Largest Glass Greenhouse in 2015. It is home to plants and flowers from five continents, from thousand-year-old olive trees to magnolias and orchids. They have divided the Greenhouse into sections from different continents; you can not leave this building without being aware of the scale and enormous collections.
The Cloud Forest
Even though the Flower dome impressed me immensely, for me, the Cloud Forest was the most interesting, and with the towering centerpiece and all the skywalks inside the building were just amazing.
It is a more humid atmosphere in the Cloud Forest, but it is not uncomfortable. When arriving at the entrance, you are welcomed by this high waterfall, and there are exotic green plants everywhere.
Within this towering green monster, you can take an escalator or lift to the mountain peak. Here you will find plants that generally are found 2000 meters high. Then you can stroll down the many curving Cloud walks as you descend the mountain. The view is impressive inside the glass dome and the Bay and Garden you see outside.
Supertree Grove
The two building described above has an entrance fee, but the Supertree Grove is free to admire. And at 19:45 and 20:45, you can experience music and lights amidst the Supertrees. The shows changes in season during the year and are also free.
I made one mistake when buying tickets for the light show. I wanted to walk the skywalk between the trees. However, there was also one tree called the Supertree observatory, much higher than the other trees. You get a fantastic view of the whole Garden and the Bay from her, but you loos some of the impression of the light show. I rushed down with the lift to watch the rest of the show from the ground, which was impressive. You can see a short video of the show with the music below.
