Lofoten on Foot: From Å to Svolvær — A Complete Journey

Lofoten wasn’t meant to be a single journey. It started as a series of walks — from Å to Svolvær, with detours, loops, and the occasional questionable decision.

Somewhere along the way, it became something more coherent. Not quite a plan, but not entirely accidental either.

Somewhere between Å and Svolvær.

This series follows that route — eight stages, each with its own pace, landscape, and small observations along the way.

1. From Å to Svolvær (For Reasons That Made Sense at the Time)

Where it started — without much of a plan, but enough motivation to keep moving.

2. Reine – Reluctantly Impressive

A place that looks too perfect to be real — and somehow still is.

3. Horseid Beach

No WiFi, no people — just midnight sun and silence.

4. Lofoten on foot: Wind, Sand, and Stubbornness

Hiking Ryten, Nusfjord, Nesland and Arctic Beaches

5. Hiking Mannen

Higher ground, wider views, and one of those rare days where everything aligns.

6. Another Loop in Lofoten

More road, more landscape — and a quieter look at what lasts.

7. Henningsvær

Still authentic — at least for now.

8. Svolvær – Identity Crisis with a View

The largest town, still deciding what it wants to be.

9. Eagle Safari — A Different Ending

A faster, wilder way to close the journey.

Taken together, these stages form something closer to a continuous journey than I expected at the start.

Lofoten has a way of doing that — turning small decisions into something that feels, in hindsight, almost intentional.
